Sunday 24/02/08 What small dfw thing have you done today???

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging the washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

Today I have /will
  • Checked online banking
  • Done clicks
  • Make lunch from storecupboard/freezer
  • Time to clean house again using stardrops and microfibre cloths
  • Update my spreadsheets and tighten budget - have joined the £4000 in 2008 chllenge:cool:
Have a good day everyone. Hi to any new posters.:hello: :hello:
Splishsplsash how is your summer project coming on? I am intrigued:D

Not much happening in my garden at moment, Greenfingers I think I could do with borrowing you for a while, your gardening sounds much more organised:T

  • Hi laura
This was sent to me when I was going through a major bout of procrastination a while back:D Now i make lists for everything to the point that I am a listaholic:rotfl:

    The Procrastinator's Creed:
    1. I believe that if anything is worth doing, it would have been done already.
    2. I shall never move quickly, except to avoid more work or find excuses.
    3. I will never rush into a job without a lifetime of consideration.
    4. I shall meet all of my deadlines directly in proportion to the amount of bodily injury I could expect to receive from missing them.
    5. I firmly believe that tomorrow holds the possibility for new technologies, astounding discoveries, and a reprieve from my obligations.
    6. I truly believe that all deadlines are unreasonable regardless of the amount of time given.
    7. I shall never forget that the probability of a miracle, though infinitesmally small, is not exactly zero.
    8. If at first I don't succeed, there is always next year.
    9. I shall always decide not to decide, unless of course I decide to change my mind.
    10. I shall always begin, start, initiate, take the first step, and/or write the first word, when I get around to it.
    11. I obey the law of inverse excuses which demands that the greater the task to be done, the more insignificant the work that must be done prior to beginning the greater task.
    12. I know that the work cycle is not plan/start/finish, but is wait/plan/plan.
    13. I will never put off until tomorrow, what I can forget about forever.

    14. I will become a member of the ancient Order of Two-Headed Turtles (the Procrastinator's Society) if they ever get it organized.

  • Morning everyone:
    Today I will:
    • [strike]line-dry washing (the sun is back, :j )[/strike]yes - two loads!
    • [strike]get some (free) gentle exercise with kids[/strike]Yes - lovely walk on the beach... in the dark on the way back!
    • make hm veg soup for lunch and some savoury cheese scones NO - we had a big breakfast so late, we never had lunch
    • [strike]go grocery shopping to Lidl's with list and only buy what's on list[/strike]Yes - and I notice Lidl's are putting their prices up
    • get some work done on kid's bikes... looking like I'll have to buy three new bikes soon... I had a look - slathered some oil on the chains, but we'll see whether that worked any magic tomorrow...
    • [strike]prep for the week ahead - some evening meetings - need to sort dinners in advance[/strike]Yes - roast lamb tomorrow, chicken and bacon vol-au-vents Tues, lamb casserole Wed, lasagne Thurs and fish on Friday.
That's it - hope eveyone has a great day!

Sophiesmum: the summer 'project' is a nine-month seasonal side-business I run from March through November - I went in yesterday, mooched around, listed all I need to do... and that's it! Always feel very lazy about starting it off, because it means loads of extra work, but I enjoy it once I get into the swing of it! I've been doing it for the last nine years.

Also made 2 x banana bread - ready in 18 minutes... but who's counting!
Also did the first of my DIY list - replaced toilet seat - only took 10 minutes! Very proud of myself!
I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.

  • I got up a bit early and made some chocolate croissants for the boy before they went to rubgy practice (thanks to a Nigella recipe). They loved them. I made chocolate chips cookies yesterday and hope to make some peanut butter cookies later. I am just about to wash my floors and get organised for lunch. I bought a big piece of beef for dinner tonight. Hopefully there will be plenty left for tomorrow to make steak and onion sandwiches for dinner. Mind you the way four boys demolish a roast dinner, I can't guarantee that.

Since it is a sunny day, I hope to hang out some washing.

Today I have checked my internet banking and done a transfer to make sure I don't go overdrawn
I have just sent OH to the shop to get some bacon with my money... but it was a fiver that his mate gave me to go to the bar for him last night, and I mean the bar that we were already in, he just couldn't be bothered to get up  so the bacon sarnies are on him this morning ;)
Apart from that, should be a NSD, going to get some pork out of the freezer and do a roast with what we have in already.
