Teapot cleaner?

I used to use bio washing powder, just leave it to soak with any teaspoons in the same state, give a good rinse and hey presto nice and shiny again.

My teapot was looking quite stained inside even though it's "stainless" steel and is often put in the dishwasher.
Since bicarb of soda is oft mentioned as a cleaning agent I put about a tbsn of bicarb plus enough boiling water to half fill the teapot and left it for a few minutes. A quick swish round with a washing up brush and it's like new again!
I think a thick tannin layer would need a good long soak mind you......
I don't drink tea any more, but always used this method to clean mugs and teaspoons as well. Put the teaspoons into the mugs, a liitle bicarb (as above) and fill to top with boiling water. Leave until cold and they're as good as new.some people grin and bear it, others smile and do it

My mum says you shouldn't clean the inside of a teapot - it makes a better cuppa if left. Not sure I agree with her tho...0

Kidcurry, I don't. I'm sure it was the twinings website that said it should be kept clean. Not heavily in debt, but still trying to sort things out.
