That used to be the case but not any more. Last time I went with a friend, she was able to pay for her own goods with her own debit card. I've also been with a friend who was buying lots of stuff when I only wanted a couple of things. She paid on her card and I gave her cash, despite the fact I'm the Costco cardholder.

b.t.w. Not sure if it has been mentioned here, but if you see anything with a price ending in .97 then that item is on special offer. Typically this is for items at the end of a season e.g. BBQs once the Christmas stuff comes in. There are sometimes some real bargains to be had.

No idea. I was told about the .97 pricing by staff. I have noticed significant price drops having remember the previous price seen earlier in the season.
