I am in comms literally as I type with someone who wants my email to pay threw paypal direct. They seem genuine (dont they all) but 9 feedback, what are the dangers? Am I right to try and insist or am I being paranoid?

What do you mean? Insist on what, not giving them your email address? Then you would just never get paid surely. They would surely need your email address to pay you thru paypal?
Even if they pay direct through the ebay link to pay the seller, they would still get your email address anyway. I just logged into my paypal account to check and any transactions, buyer or seller, I have the email addresses.
eg...
Payment To:XXXXXX (The recipient of this payment is Non-US - Verified)
Seller's ID:XXXXX
Seller's Email: XXXX@aol.com
9 feedback is fine to me, you have to start somewhere on ebay. What is more important is do they have any negatives? Or is it 100% positive?
I think you are just being a bit paranoid, unless i have missed something here!?0 -
Your right about the email address, there just seemed to something a bit odd and I thought if anybody out there knows about odd paypal activity it will be this lot, lol.
The odd bit was that they wanted to pay in two parts, I have sent my email and they have said that the first part is on the way so I'll keep an eye.
Well what can I say, both payments received. Defo me being a bit paranoid, well better safe than sorry lol.0 -
Make sure they are a verified paypal user before sending out the parcel, as they can make a dispute and claim the money back easier and scam you. Only ever send things to verified users, that way you have more protection.0

Log into your paypal and check that the payments are in there as cleared funds, do not just go by emails received.0

NO..do not accept 2 payments as strangely enough you lose seller protection. Go and look at the checklist for accepting paypal, post number 16 on the 'useful links' sticky thread on this forum.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
