Barclaycard - reducing their interest

Last week we called Barclays to set up a DD. We also asked if they could give us a good deal as "other" lenders give us deals.
So right off the cuff they offered us as existing customers a reduction from 19.9% to 11.1% on the phone.
Today we got the official letter where we now enjoy this special rate for the next 12 months, but only on new purchases.
Might be of help to others. Just call and ask. You might just get something.
