Ive made D&DD's scrummy apple braid and I know some of you have made variations so wondered what you'd tried that worked
I'm thinking of making it tomorrow to use up some cherry pie filling thats been in the cupboard ages.
Was it my imagination or did someone try a savoury version? If so did you reduce the sugar in the dough?
Many thanks

What a good idea to do a thread for variations. I mastered the braid the other day, except that I made a giant one! Think Pimpthatsnack!!!!!
It would be really helpful for folks to post their variations using the dough here all together. Someone said that they had done a pizza one, sounds good for lunchbox to me!"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

well Ive made the cherry one and it smells lovely, just waiting for it to cool so I can do some tasting:D
Ive just used the pie filling instead of the apple filling, so I suppose any pie filling would also work.
I'm sure I saw that someone made it with choc spread so that may be my next adventure:TJune Grocery Challenge 270.80/250July Grocery Challenge 0/3000 -
Am I the only one who hasn't made the apple braid yet? I bought some bramleys the other day so must really have a go at making a couple. Pizza ones sound good too. As for cherry pie filling ones - I LOOOOOVE cherry pie filling. That's another one I'll have to have a go at.0

Hi
I've successfully made DD&D's (think I remembered that right!) recipe for Apple Braid previously but tonight I have attempted a savoury version. I plan to cook it in the morning to take to work for lunch. I let it rise for 30 minutes as per the recipe last time. I was going to let it rise slowly in my unheated kitchen tonight and cook it at 7am tomorrow. Do you think it's going to rise okay or have I faffed about all night for nothing?
If anyone is up, please help!
(If it's a success, I will divulge the filling tomorrow night - actually make that later today!)
thanks

Was going to suggest it should be fine if left slowly to rise in a cooler placeOne day I might be more organised...........

Thank you! So do you think I should leave it where it is or put it in the fridge to be on the safe side? (Would prefer to leave it out as putting it in the fridge would involve a major reshuffle)
