Cottage in Scotland

Relatives are coming up from the South East of England and are looking to book a week's holiday in a cottage in a reasonably remote area of Scotland at the end of August. Can anyone recommend the best areas for walking, sightseeing and the occasional pub lunch!

We stayed here 2 years ago, and it was fabulous. In the middle of a nature reserve, near a Loch, and yet only about 5 miles from Aviemore. The cottage has only been done up in the last 3-4 years, and the pictures don't do it justice. Walks from the door, although pub lunches are a few minutes drive away in Grantown-on-Spey.

Ach! Just checked availability and it's booked till October! Sorry! Still, it's a fabulous area, so it might help focus the search?0 -

Fort William might be possibility too.....lots of walking...Glen Coe..Ben Nevis...sight seeing...Loch Ness...fab train journey to mallaig (features in the harry potter films)...then on to Isle of Skye.x x x0 -
two words really 'west coast' this is one of the best places to goto stunning scenery beautiful white sandy beaches and lots of wildlife and loads of friendly people. A trip to the Isle of Skye is well worth it but go via the ferry at Kyle of Lochalsh dont bother with the bridge the water here is crystal clear and you will see loads of seals and fish on the crossing.Wins so Far: 21" lcd monitor, 6 day all expenses paid holiday to China, 8800GTX gfx card, 2x Panasonic cameras, 12 cups and Loads of Twix's, Coffee Lovers Hamper - Wild bean cafe.
