Uswitch pricing vs British Gas pricing
Please could someone shed light on why the comparison sites' pricing (Uswitch) differs from Bristish gas published pricing:
British Gas Click 5 Electricity tariff EASTERN Region (used by USWITCH)
see http://www.uswitch.com/ConsumerGuide/Energy/BritishGas-ClickEnergy5-89944/PlanInformation/Overview.aspx
Units 23.636p per kWh inc vat
Units above 500 kWh p.a 7.27p per kWh inc vat
British Gas Click 5 Electricity tariff EASTERN Region (published by BRITISH GAS)
see http://www.britishgas.co.uk/pdf/click5_elec.pdf valid from 8feb2008
Units 25.727p per kWh inc vat
Units above 125 kWh p.a 8.566p per KWh inc vat
All above pricing includes VAT
Note also that the tier threshold is different as well!
FYI I am in post code HP19 which is Brit Gas Eastern Region.
My elec consumption is 4500KWh pa
I have asked uswitch and energy watch and both claim that "there can't possibly be a mistake".
In that case Britsh Gas must be deliberately supplying wrong pricing to comparison sites which I somehow doubt.
This is just one of many discrepancies I have seen with Uswitch pricing.
How can consumers fairly compare suppliers if these comparison sites can't even use the correct pricing?

is the Uswitch tariff out of date perhaps, I know sometimes the comparison sites don't update as quickly as they shouldI always wanted to be a procrastinator, never got round to it...0

I think not I have tried several comparison sites and they all have the same rates and use the same 'tariff' - click energy 5 (not 4 or 3 etc)
As brit gas always rename their tariffs at each price change I dont think there can be much room for confusion as to what the click energy 5 rates are?0 -

HiBikeman
The Uswitch rates are for single rate (inc VAT) and the BT rates are for dual rate (Economy 7) (inc. VAT) - the BG rates for single are the same as USwitch.Personally I'm always ready to learn, although I do not always like being taught - Sir Winston Churchill0 -
I've not followed the links, but the threshhold you have as from British Gas is per quarter, and the one from USwitch per year.
This changed in Jan this year, before that it was 225/quarter or 900/year.0 -

Ah ha you're absolutely right, I was looking at the two rate DD table and not the single rate DD table.
Do I feel stupid now0
