Uswitch pricing vs British Gas pricing
Please could someone shed light on why the comparison sites' pricing (Uswitch) differs from Bristish gas published pricing:
British Gas Click 5 Electricity tariff EASTERN Region (used by USWITCH)
see http://www.uswitch.com/ConsumerGuide/Energy/BritishGas-ClickEnergy5-89944/PlanInformation/Overview.aspx
Units23.636p per kWh inc vatUnits above 500 kWh p.a7.27p per kWh inc vat
British Gas Click 5 Electricity tariff EASTERN Region (published by BRITISH GAS)
see http://www.britishgas.co.uk/pdf/click5_elec.pdf valid from 8feb2008
Units
25.727p per kWh inc vatUnits above 125 kWh p.a8.566p per KWh inc vat
All pricing includes VAT
Note also that the tier threshold is different as well!
I have asked uswitch and energy watch and both claim that "there can't possibly be a mistake".
In that case Britsh Gas must be deliberately supplying wrong pricing to comparison sites which I somehow doubt.
This is just one of many discrepancies I have seen with Uswitch pricing.
How can consumers fairly compare suppliers if these comparison sites can't even use the correct pricing?

The Click Energy 5 prices on uSwitch are correct.
On uSwitch, using an eastern region postcode, single rate electricity rates are as follows - units up to 500 kWh per annum = 23.636p, units above 500kWh = 7.27p. These are in line with the rates published by British Gas.
The prices you’ve mentioned (i.e. 25.727p and 8.566p) refer to the economy 7 tariff. This, you’ll find, is perfectly accurate on uSwitch also. To check these prices, make sure you tick the economy 7 box on the first page when entering your details.
In both cases the tier threshold is 500 which is correct per annum, 125 is per quarter.
I hope that explains everything.0 -
Just to say uSwitch have had permission to post a response to the question above.0
