Well i booked my flights to america, going with Delta.
LGW-ATL-SDF on 28/07
JFK-LGW on 03/09
costing £665 which i dont think is too bad, wanted the security of having the same airline for both flights, and Delta were cheaper than both BA and AA witht he added bonus of flying from LGW so all good.
I have NEVER flown by myslef outside of the UK and NEVER gotten a connecting flight, how do you connect flights?
Do you go to baggage reclaim and then check-in again or is there a simpler, quicker way?!0 -
Glad you got it sorted JW, but you're never going to be a moneysavingexpert with that fare (cheapest from LGW today is £582)! xGone ... or have I?0

We used South-West Airlines for connecting flights when in USA, they are similar to Easyjet0

I've taken my son with me to Vegas a couple of times and although we had a good time it does restrict you at times (he's a teenager)so if you have the option to go when she's away it's definitely worth considering.
There IS stuff for families to do but I certainly wouldn't call Vegas "Family Friendly".I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Transferring is pretty straightforward
You get off the plane-clear immigration-then reclaim your bags off the belt-walk through customs and hand over the cutoms declaration and as you walk out there is facility to hand your bags over to the airline (they will already be tagged through to your final destination) and then just look at the boards to see where your onward flight is departing from. No hassle at all usually.
If the OP is happy with the price she is paying for the airlines she has-then she's got the deal she wanted. MSE is getting what you want at the price you want and the lowest priced fare isn't always the best value overall. I've booked flights that weren't the cheapest available for the dates but for me were best value as they had better connections, better service, better plane, miles earning-whatever. To some a flight is just a bum in seat experience but to others there are other considerations that have value too.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Thanks Duchy, couldnt put it better myself.
One connecting flight with a 5hr 35m layover (I wanted to have plenty of time but still make it to Louisville on the same day) is perfect for me, and with no connections on the way home, being able to pick where i sit before i pay and the massive benefit of LGW over LHR made the flight choices the best.0
