  • I'm afraid I have cheated - I got a sage and parsley for 25p each in the reduced section when I went shopping - have re-potted & watered them in as they seemed a bit packed in & dry. Am now hardening them off during the day in the greenhouse with my other seedlings and will plant the sage by the door and the parsley in a pot when they are ready to move again - speaking of which, I must bring them in from the greenhouse for the night before they 'catch a cold' lol

  • Have you tried rocket, basil, corriander or parsley from seed - these are easy - just get a simple proporgator and put on a window sill. have the seeds past their sow by date as this affects smaller seeds than larger seeds.

I got a tray of six pot grown ones from B & Q, if you are careful choosing, and maybe a bit sneaky [like me] you can mix & match to ensure you get the ones you want in your tray before you go to checkout

Know what I mean, nudge nudge wink wink ;)

  • Last year I grew Coriander, Oregano, Parsley, Chives, Thyme and Basil from seed. The basil was not very successfull but the rest was great. The tyhme, oregano and parsley has been outside all winter and is fine. The chives are starting to make a comeback.
It's well worth growing from seed as it works out cheaper than plants.

This year I am adding red basil to my collection and will grow more corriander.

You must have very green fingers, parsley is famously awkward to germinate

Boiling water over the seeds :D it does work, I tried it a few years ago.
