If i pay of the balance the next same day i won't get charged?

Options
Say i buy something for £50 then come home the same day and pay it off using my card, I won't get charged a penny right? This is with captical one classic.

  • No you wouldn't. But I'd question the point in doing it.
  • Just incase I forget to pay back the money, then leave it unpaid for a month or so then get charged interest.
  • You COULD leave it unpaid. So long as you pay everything back in full when you get your statement, you won't pay a penny in interest or fees.

    Ever heard of direct debit?
  • So the CC won't make a penny of me, nice. Sounds like a better idea to pay it off at the end of the month.

Then why not just pay for it with the debit card in the first instance..?

Presumably because OP has a Capital One Classic card, s/he is trying to build up some credit history.
  • Fair point. DD monthly sounds easiest then.

As others have said, you could set up a direct debit.

However, if you don't want to set up a direct debit, your credit limit isn't large enough for all the transactions you want to do in a month or you are worryed that you may forget to keep enough money in your account to pay the direct debit then what you propose would work.

In fact, Capital One are updating their website in March and will then accept payments online by debit card...

  • I mostly always pay off my credit card account in full online a few days after spending on them and before getting my statements for the following reasons:

I get cash back from my credit card (although not a lot).
The additional protection that the credit card provides for purchases.
To keep my credit rating healthy by borrowing and paying it back.

I NEVER pay interest on my cards.....thankfully!
