Central Heating / hot water timer running backwards

Hi,

We have a Horstmann 425 Tiara timer control for our heating/ hot water. Yesterday there was a power cut for a second. A few hours later I noticed the timer was set on the wrong time (although the heating was on that was set to come on later!) So I reset the time. This morning I noticed it was off again, dh wasn't up, so I left it so he could see it. 30 mins later I noticed it said 30 mins earlier. When dh got up, I told him the timer was running backward. He told me that was impossible, and reset the timer to the correct time. Now he realises that I was right  . But the timer shouldn't be going backwards, in fact the instructions tell you not to turn it the wrong way! Does anyone have any suggestions as to how we can get it to run the correct way?

Thanks

Isolate the mains power supply from your system for a few minutes and then switch the power back on and reset the time.

    Thanks espresso,

Sadly this didn't work. Now the timer doesn't turn at all. I guess we need a new timer. If it was the power cut, the power company are calling it a 'major incident', and people lucky enough to be at the till in the local supermarkets were given weighable items for free as the scales stopped working - I have never been lucky enough for that to happen to me.
