The bank will have committed conversion of the cheque and will have no choice but to refund MR X.
This is why they should not take any chances with the cheque.
They have nothing to gain but a lot to lose.
I think my advice in post #3 still stands.
Then Abbey would have to credit Mr with the funds, and they would withdraw the funds from your account. But they would TRY and contact you, i do stress TRY.0
