Stopping a cheque with Natwest???

I sent a cheque for £20 for an ebay purchase, the seller claims they still have not received it despite it being sent almost 2 weeks ago by first class post. I'm slightly wary of them as the inital payment was supposed to be through paypal but for some reason their paypal account cannot accept payments. I don't really want to send a 2nd cheque without stopping the 1st one as they could quite easily cash both!
I looked on the Natwest website and it says that the charge to stop a cheque is "£10 (unless it has been lost or stolen)". Does anyone know whether a cheque that never arrived in the mail is classed as lost?

Thanks, I know it sounds like a silly question but I just thought if I report it as lost then the seller tries to cash it Natwest would think I was lying about losing it if the payee has it in their possession to cash!0

Check your account first to make sure that the first cheque has not been cashed.
It might also be an idea to write the second cheque for £10.01 to make sure that the tenner cheque does not get confused with the duplicate.0 -

Iirc Royal Mail wll not class a letter as ''missing'' until 28 days after the date of posting. If you wait 28 days then report the letter ''missing'' to Royal Mail & then inform Nat West that the cheque is officially ''lost'' you should avoid the £10 charge.0 -

Just report it as lost, I doubt anyone within the Natwest cheque clearing dept cares enough to argue over the loss or otherwise of your cheque.0 -
Rang Natwest, didn't go into great detail just said that I wanted to cancel a cheque that had been lost - there was no inquisition and no charge either!0
