bad credit

my partner has some bad debt (couple credit cards and an overdraft). He moved out of the country and while he was away his accounts went into arrears. How long does this debt follow him? is there a time constraint that they can try to recover this debt? like 7 years? or will he always be liable?

Usually its six years for the debt to become statuate barred, which means its no longer enforceable. If there are any CCJ's for the debt then i dont believe there is a time limit.0
