Thought i would join in and give you my SOA so you could maybe help me out somewhere..
Im in 'good' debt :rotfl: i think, ive not got people chasing me, not got credit cards, all my bills are paid on time, just want some help so i can raise some money to pay the 'good' debts off quicker, plus i need the movtivation to actually use that money to pay off and not spend on rubbish!
I started back at work just before christmas after being off for a year to look after the brats but i was totally skint and never had anything spare, since starting back at work and having extra money ive been enjoying buying anything i want! So now its time to sort myself out and start sorting my finances out. Here goes....

INCOMING - 1676.28
Wages - 500 approx
CSA - 200
CB - 120.80
Tax credits - 855.48

OUTGOING - 1087.83
Loan - 67.73
Gas - 20
Leccy - 22
Water - 13.95
Tv licence - 27.10 (will be going down to about £11 by April)
Aol - 14.99
Laptop insurance - 8.99
Laptop loan - 15.22 (with HFC)
Rent - 340
Council tax - 68
Childcare - 422.00
Weight watchers - £17.85
Bt - 20 approx (£13 this month)
O2 - 30 approx (£27 this month)

so my depts are -
DEBT - £2808.55
[strike]
Great universal - 69.50 (will be paying this off next pay day):T
[/strike]Tsb overdraft - 950.00 (ahhhhhhhh)
Cahoot overdraft - 429.96--- (9.8%)
Laptop - 400 ish (this is a loan with HFC, will find out what i owe)
Social loan - 500 ish (they only wrote to me the other day and will be writing back April to let me know how and when to pay)
Paul - 200.00 (loan from a friend, i can pay it back when i like) :T
Tsb loan - 259.09 3 months left to pay woo hoo!

Everything else left over i have used on shopping and rubbish this last month so it will settle down now.
ive already started my MSE lifestyle by freezing food and im living out of my cupboards ths week.

I dont smoke, dont drink unless i go out which is once a month sometimes twice.

My mam keeps telling people how proud she is of me and my sister for not being in debt, i know £2808.55 isnt a lot compared to some people but ts plenty for me, im dying to tell her just so i can say look, people like us do go thru things like this!

Thanx in advance for any help, advice or money you give me...lol

  • Hello

I cant see anything for groceries, clothing, christmas or birthdays. These are areas that needs to be budgeted for as they are where I have been caught out in the past.

Here are a couple of useful links:

    Hi

Can I just check what you are saying here - you have has 1 wage that left you with £600 extra cash after your bills, but you still have an overdraft etc ?

What did the £600 go one - you can't have spent it all on food ??

I think a good start (if I have understood correctly and got the figures right) would be to look at were last months £600 went and set a budget from this. Even if you only have about £250 left every month, it shouldn't be long until your debts are cleared.
  • that first wage went on things that i have been running out of for months, done a massive shop, bought bed sheets, shoes, clothes for the kids, paid for long over due haircuts, just enjoyed my first wage really.
Got that out of my system now and gonna keep track of what im doing from now on.

no, not always i had laptop insurance and they paid out got a brand new lappy which i ebayed for £100 more than the cost of the lappy would have been. It depends who you have the insurance with and what happens to the laptop (ie does it travel? do you eat/drink around it?) sometimes paying £17 is worth it...

yeah think i will, just gonna get this thing sorted thats on my screen then ill cancel it
  • decided not to cancel the laptop insurance, i eat and drink by it, the kids use it and f its on the floor the kids stand on it so in the end i'll probably get my monies worth out of the insurance!

Went shopping today bought loads of veg and meat and spent £11.50 out of the £15 i had left til Tuesday. So ive got £4.50 to last me til Tuesday now which isnt too bad, got nothing to buy today or tomorrow and Monday should be ok.

Bought myself a spending diary today n all, gonna just watch what i buy ths week and then start writing it all down on the 1st next week so i can keep tabs on what im doing.

Ooh and on a good note, i went to weigh-in and lost 3lb yey!!!:T

Gonna think about moving onto PAYG after that.
Ringing HFC tomorrow and the social loan people to find out what i owe then can put an exact figure on my debts
