Help - Insurance For Young Driver Who's Been Banned??

HELP!! I'm desperately trying to find an affordable car policy (his car is group 6) for my nephew who's just passed his test this week.
Unfortunately, he went through a "difficult" time last year (when he wasn't living at home and not being taught the ways of the world) and managed to accumulate enough points to get banned for 6 months, and one of the endorsements was for no insurance!
He realises just how stupid he was, and that he has to pay for the consequences of his actions. I'm very pleased to say he is now back living at home, has a job, acts responsibly, and has passed his test.:j
I would like to help my brother find an affordable insurance policy for him, apparently as soon as he mentions the IN10, the companies go completely silent! he says it's almost like they've hung up!!
Does anyone know the best company to go with?

Who have you tried? Have you tried going via a broker?0

my brother's tried a few, but is getting disheartened by their responses, and doesn't really have much time to spare.
I have told him to try "A quote" who always do us a good price, and even saved my Mum £150 last year and still insured her with Norwich Union, but we're oldies now, easy to insure!!!
I thought there might be someone out there with the same sort of problems who had found a company wanting less than £2000 for TPF & T on a group 6 car!. Call of Duty widow :rolleyes:0 -
I think that you are lucky to get a quote for £2000 considering the circumstances,
you might be able to save a little bit by buying a lower insurance rated carI

My son has his pass plus and pays over £1000 for a group 1 car, thats without any points or being banned.
£2000 for a group 6 car is a good deal especially considering the circumstances.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4

£2k for group 6 after a ban. That'd be a bargain. My brother's 17, got a group 1 car - it'll be £1.5k when he passes and that's the cheapest around. No longer using this account for new posts from 20130

He should spend a year or two getting around by bicycle. After then he will saved a lot of money; he will be a good deal healthier; and insurance companies will regard his problems as being in the distant past.0

Definitely try a few brokers, many cater for circumstances such as these. Adrian Flux do specialist insurance, so they could be worth a try.
Getting rid of the Group 6 car and getting something lower will snip off a bit more.0 -
Finding it difficult putting my 18 year old (going to learn to drive) on my policy as it's extortionate. He's got an IN10 too that he got the week of his 16th birthday for using a mini-moto. My policy is due this weekend but looks like I'll not be adding him on. I've got a small 1450cc car (04).If I had known then what I know now . . .
