UNUM Income protection Insurance

Hi, I have been paying into my UNUM Income protection insurance for several years now.
I am constantly seeing stories where Insurance companies refuse to pay by worming out due to pre-existing conditions or something seen on medical records which may have not been disclosed.
As a result of this i am wondering if it is really worth continuing with the payments.
I recently visited my GP for a cholestorol check which prooved to be ok, but he said there was evidence of an enzime in my blood which would suggest i am a heavy drinker.
I must admit to liking the old booze a bit but i am certainly not an alcholic!
I am worried that this will have gone on my medical records and IF I ever have to make a claim the "worming out" dept at UNUM will spot this and use it as an excuse not to cover me for probably any illness.
What do any of you suggest i do, I only have the statuatory sick pay conditions in my employment contract.
I have Income replacer insurance with Abbey who provide my mortgage, this policy will pay my bills in the event of Sickness or redundancy, maybe I should cancel the UNUM and increase the cover a bit with the Abbey Policy.
Any idea's greatly appreciated

Yet only around 5% of claims are rejected for that reason. Its funny how only 5% of claims being rejected for non disclosure steals the limelight and not the 85% odd that get paid out successfully.What do any of you suggest i do, I only have the statuatory sick pay conditions in my employment contract.

Surely it would be the other way round if anything. The Abbey one is underwritten at point of claim.
