Problem with Tesco Direct - What to do?

Ordered a pool table on the 8th Feb which should be delivered tomorrow. It has been shown as at courier, ready for dispatch in my account, until I have just had a call from Tesco to say its now out of stock, and infact discontinued and wanting to refund my card. Trouble is, everywhere else its another £100-150. Have stated I am not happy and wanting to speak to a manager who will supposedly call me back later this afternoon. As they have taken payment from my card, do I have 'rights'? What do you think is my best option?

I think you will get a refund full stop to be honest, they can't give you anything as its out of stock...sorry xxYou may walk and you may run

And every time the storm and the soul wars come
You just keep on walking0 -
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.0

Yup, you'll get a refund. They can't give you a pool table if there aren't any there and no more are coming in."Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."

I suppose if yu have already paid your cc statement for the purchase you could in theory challenge Tesco to pay you intrest. However its probably more hassle than its worth...0

that's the trouble with the Tesco Direct system the website is not linked to their stock system.
So for example if they have 10 wii's in stock and it goes on their site and 15 people order it - next time the site updates (about every hour or two) then 5 people will have to get a call from the team to say "sorry - out of stock we need to refund you".
They still dont have an system to hold your order either - hopefully with all their cash and profits they might spend some on IT ...lol
