Soolin is defensive over the rules, whether for Ebay, Paypal or Tax Man.

Why not? This is a forum about how to use things, not how to cheat the taxman, ebay or PP

As fay said this is not a forum about how to circumnavigate the rules or cheat tax. Soolin as many of the rest of us give advice from our experience within the rules.

99% of people problems with ebay or paypal are due to them not understanding the rules or Terms and conditions. So why give them information that may get them in more trouble confused0024.gif

Ebay is a necessary evil to most of us its the only auction site with a decent customer base. The best way to use it to your advantage is to understand it and its T&Cs. If some of the people who spent all that effort that they use trying to avoid free P&P (for example) on their listings and understanding the best ways to sell on Ebay. They would have far fewer problems and make more money.

As for the Taxman only an idiot tries to avoid income Tax. They'll catch you in the end either by your own mistakes or someone will tell them on your behalf.

Wow, ancient thread but I'm glad to see that eBay very occasionally do pull their finger out and address some of the blatant "I'm not a business, honest" sellers on there. The only one I've ever seen actually finally register as a business was the one I reported to the tax evasion hotline
