Hi I wanted some advice on closing my Smile Current account.
I have been with them about a year and due to my circumstances changing I decided to saty with Lloyds. I had some money troubles and had to use the smile overdraft. It is all paid off now but ages ago i think i heard someone say as i never had my wage oing into my smile account i could end up with charges by closing it, does anyone know if this is true and iff it is is there a way around it?
Thanks for your time in advance.

Hi there, firstly congratulations on paying off all your overdraft (hoping to pay off my loans by the end of 2008
) I've been with Smile since 2000 and I'd be absolutely amazed if you have to pay anything to close the account  Have you tried sending Smile a secure message when you're logged into online banking?

I very much doubt you'd have to pay a charge to close a smile current account.
Not having your salary paid into the account makes no difference.Proudly Banking & Saving With:

False, you don't need to return all the stationery before the account will be closed. I have closed accounts upon request without that pre-requisite, although it is -preferred.0 -
