My wife is a driving instructor and her car insurance is with NIG which has been arranged through Waveney Insurance Brokers (based in Norwich). The premium was the most competitive around (£400 fully comp, any driver + 17 year old son - excesses £150 for over 25's £350 for son).
Anyway on 12th July someone ran into the back of her whilst she was parked at the side of the road. We reported the bump at 8-30am the next morning and by 11-30am there was a replacement dual controlled car on the drive which we keep for either the duration of the repairs or until 5 days after receiving a settlement cheque in case of total loss (which is the case in this instance as the plonker that hit her has caused £5,000 damage!). Personal injury solicitor was in touch by 2-30pm on 13th July and on 19th July Insurance assessor stated the damage was right on the limit for total loss and gave us the choice of having it repaired or written off. The offer made for the car was excellent (being over what the same car was selling for privately but slightly less than forecourt prices) and we have had it written off. The brokers, insurance company and handling company have been absolutely first rate.
I don't know how many driving instructors check out this site but Waveneys an NIG Insurance certainly get my vote of confidence and will do everything in their power to beat other insurance quotes.

Does NIG insurance only insure driving instructors or can anyone use their services? £400 sounds very good value when you have any driver and a 17 year old on it.
I couldnt get anything below £1800 when I wanted to include my 17 year old on a policy, but I understand there are other factors to consider when a policy price is arrived at not the least of which is where you live, and the fact that your wife is a driving instructor so is probably considered one of the safest drivers on the road.
Always on the look-out for a good insurer with good prices and services.richbitch0 -
NIG will insure anyone. They only sell policies through brokers and are part of the Royal Bank of Scotland Group.0
