in Credit cards
Hi, new to this so please be gentle!
Can anybody advise?
My G.F has an argos store card with a APR of 28pc,(I Know!) and owes £437. She has just got a Halifax CC with zero B.T for 12mths. When she has tried to BT, Argos have told her "you cant pay off credit with credit"!! Also, she cant pay it of as a purchase for the same reasons. Halifax cant put it through as a BT as they dont recognise Argos on their system as a credit supplier!! Is this just bull***t on Argos's part to stop her paying the balance off and depriving them of money??
Thanks for any help.

That's the way the Argos card works I'm afraid.
One option is to apply for a credit card that allows a funds transfer into a bank account. She could then pay Argos off that way.Dave. :wave:0 -
Some credit cards have cheques that can be written which you can use to pay off other cards or to pa tradesmen etc.
They usually do carry a small fee but it's still less that the APR on the argos card.

Thanks Emma, but isnt a cc cheque regarded as a cash advance? not sure the APR would be much lower if that was the case.

Banks often have special rates on credit card cheques. I regularly get them through the post for my Halifax CC with a fixed lower rate until repaid - still defintely lower than the argos card.
Hope you get it sorted.
