Isnt this a little contradictory.........if you beleive certain commodities are going to continue to rise then surely the corresponding producer (stock) will rise, and will benefit from gearing.

Yes i know gearing works both ways. I would prefer to sacrifice some upside if it meant the inevitable downside dips were reduced as well.

So this is your flavour of the month for February, yes?

China was your big thing for the next 10 years, then Global Equities, then BRIC, then Global Equities again, now we're on to Commodities?

Do you not think that your constant flitting about from one buzz-sector to another might be having some effect on your credibility at this point...?

For the record, I have investments in all of your recent suggested sectors and more, and I plan to keep it diversified so that I can take advantage of the good and mitigate the losses simply by diluting them..

No matey i have a 50/50 split in global funds and commodities. What i am looking for is a long term portfolio. I am not messing with chopping and changing with individual commodity ETFS. Also having a global fund means i dont have to chop and change sectors and countries.

Try again. I prefer to have reduced volatility even if the fund performance may not ultimately be as high.

Every single one of your 10 year plans has had something like this attached though! I have seen you claim to be going into a position with no more chopping and changing at least 3 times now, and each time it seems to last less than a month before you find something else you like the look of!

Well it is a bit of a nightmare trying to work out exactly which of about 2000 funds to invest in and also what proportions of each. My depth of knowledge is increasing all the time.

We all have those problems. You COULD try putting a small proportion of your overall portfolio into each of the new areas for investment you find that you like the look of. I started off with 4 investment funds, and have diversified into about 12 or 13 as I did more research. Not once have I been tempted to throw everything I have into a single fund!
