AllBrandsNew.com - any good/bad experiences?
I'm thinking of buying a new Honda Jazz. Most online dealers offer around £500 off the list price for this model. However, AllBrandsNew.com are offering an amazing £1500 reduction and seem helpful on the phone. I'm very tempted but am a little worried that this may be "too good to be true". Any advice? Has anyone used this company before?
Thanks,Andy

Do you get the registration document or is it retained for +/- 6 months?0

I believe you do get the registration document but it is something I would certainly double check.0

I heard there is a new model Jazz due this year, possibly the reason for the discount.
Surely a registration document cannot be withheld??
It is a legal document.0 -

It is a legal document.
Some garages try it on if they are pre-registering cars to get manufacturer discount. From my understanding they are not allowed to change the registered owner for 6 months as per their agreement with the manufacturer.
Can possibly cause insurance problems (I think).0 -

In which case, they could/should not sell it for the 6 months then.
The only " insurance problem " is that many insurers only replace a total loss car with a new replacement if it is first registered to the existing owner, which any pre-reg car will not be.0 -
The reason some sellers withold logbooks is because the car is being sold on 3-6mths earlier than the dealer is allowed to under their brand franchise contract, and the only way they can stop the new buyer alerting the DVLA and the manuf'r about the fact it has been sold earlier than permitted after its registration is by witholding the logbook for that period to prevent the buyer applying to have their name put on as the owner.
And yes, it is a legal requirement that the logbook changes hands at the same time as the car to reflect the new owner immediately on the DVLA's records.
Dealers pre-registering cars without the manuf'rs authority have to keep them and run them as demo's for 3-6mths (time depends on the manuf'rs as some vary). This stops too many cars hitting the market too cheaply (and therefore sending used car prices through the floor for that model)
You should ALWAYS ask when looking at a deal like this "am I the first and only registered owner?" and "Do I get the logbook straight away". If the answer to either is 'no' then you need think hard about this as a sensible person who cares what happens to their cash on such a major purchase.
Registered 'keeper' is not the same as registered owner.
You wouldn't buy a used car and allow the seller to keep the documents in their name and possession for months, so why on earth do it on a new car.
And..check with your insurers, many insurers will not cover you if you are not the named owner on the V5 document at the DVLA.
Hope that helps...“Official Company Representative
