Credit Cards providing Collision Damage Cover on Hire Cars

Americans and Canadians who rent cars in the UK avoid purchasing Collision Damage Waiver Insurance when they use their Credit Card. This cover is provided as a benefit by the Credit Card Company.

Do any British Card Issuers offer this same benefit?

    Not that I'm aware of.

You need to be careful when booking car hire in the US because the quote often excludes collission damage waiver (because this is provided as part of a US persons normal car insurance usually).
Smile :), it makes people wonder what you have been up to.

Most UK car insurers will cover courtesy cars and the like under your normal car insurance (and often for free, for a day at least). I'm not sure why or if this wouldn't apply equally to hire cars?
