Fraud act fails public on garage cloning scam

Options
Banks and credit card companies failed to alert Bedfordshire police of the theft of hundreds of thousands of pounds from the accounts of local people the House of Commons was told on Tuesday. South West Bedfordshire MP Andrew Selous revealed how Bedfordshire police had confirmed that 745 people had money stolen from their debit and credit cards and yet not one bank or credit card company had contacted Bedfordshire Police.

Card issuers should have issued victims with new cards.

But I'd bet they failed to mention that the victims PIN had been compromised and if indeed a new PIN was issued, then not to change the PIN to the one used in the fraud.

If a card issuer fails to issue a new PIN, then how can they ever claim a PIN is secure?

I'd bet credit card issuers failed to mention to victims that they could opt for Chip & Signature cards vice Chip & PIN, thus denying fraudsters no risk access to hard cash at ATMs.

I'd also bet that cards and PINs have been compromised of accounts that didn't have enough money in them at the time to make cash withdrawals.

I'd bet card issuers haven't warned card holders who've used this garage during the period that the cloning took place, that their card and PIN may have been compromised.
