Sebo upright vacuum belt change

We have a sebo x1 upright. The drive belt to the pick up roller has broken.
I cannot work out how to get the roller off to replace the belt.It looks as though the whole machine has to be dismantled.Has anyone done this and could let me know how its done.
Many thanks

  • Sorry, I don't know how but my Mum has one of these and they come with a five year warranty. Have you had it for that long? If not, maybe give them a call and they may be able to fix it for you.

    Hi

    Do you mean the brush?

If so you should press the button on the base and pull the side cover.

    there's instructions on:
    http://www.sebo.co.uk/Images/ManualX1.pdf

to get to the belt you'll need to remove the base where the actual belt/brush is then should lift off. It's quite simple.

if not me know and i'll try to have another look.

Well I finally managed to take the unit to pieces, all I can say is that if the pick up roller stops going round and it is not something obvious take it into a dealer. There are 2 toothed belts, the main belt which is the one thats failed goes from the motor to a geared secondary roller.OK you think I can do that however the drives are held in both side and to get a new belt in you almost have to dismantle the unit down to component parts.
I have repaired many different vacuum cleaners and this one is in a class of its own for complexity and difficulty.
