Payplan?

Hi, can people please give me some more information on Payplan -there phoning me on saturday morning to discuss how they could help me with my finances.

I pay over half my wages on paying debts each month and am really starting to struggle. I've started doing some extra work on the side to help out but its not guaranteed work each month. I would just like to know how they would help and whether they have been helpful to others.

Thanks

  • Hi PeterPickering

I haven't got any experience of them but while you wait for someone to come along that has you could have a look through this thread:

    Link

It is a thread for people on DMPs, some of the people on there will be with PayPlan

EDIT: that isn't to say that I assume that you will go on a DMP, just that the people on the thread may well have info about what PayPlan is like to work with

    Hi Peter,

I first encountered Payplan almost 3 years ago now. I contacted the National Debt Helpline when my debts got out of control and eventually, after about two weeks they recommended me to Payplan. In my experience, they have been nothing short of fantastic.

I had started to default on my debts and was getting calls day and night, constant threatening letters etc etc etc.

Payplan took over evrything and made arrangements with my creditors. I started a Debt Management Plan (DMP) and I paid Payplan a fixed amount every month which they shared equitably amongst my creditors. They dealt with all the post and nasty letters from the creditors and all this was for free. You can call them anytime for advice and email them as well. They also set you up an email 'account' called 'Just-a-Bank' so you can log in and see how your debts are being managed etc.

I cannot overstate how much stress that Payplan took away from me. There are other Debt Management Agencies which do exactly the same, CCCS and your local CAB being the main ones.

You could run a search on the forums for Payplan and CCCS and try looking at the DMP Mutual Support Thread where those on DMP's offer support and guidance and share experiences.

I recommend that you go ahead with Payplan, but look around the site and get advice.

Whatever agency you decide to go to for help, you will always get the very best support here on this site.

Three years later, I am almost debt free now, :j and am a total Payplan-fan!

  • hi- i'm with payplan as well- no problems at all. It is actually a weight off your mind when you have that 1st phone call, make sure you allocate a good 40 mins and try and have allyour statements etc to hand. They've heard it all before and then some so dont feel scared/embarrasses discussing figures, letters etc.
TBH I did find it a bit slow in stopping all the calls and needed to keep in touch a fair bit for the first couple of months but I've been with them for 3 years now, increased and decreased payments when I've had to, and they've been great.

    Hi Peter,

I'm with Payplan too, and I highly recommend them.

When they phone be totally honest about your circumstances, they won't judge you and are so kind they made me cry with relief.

Once you have your reference number you can tell this to any creditors that phone and their response tends to be "sorry to bother you".

Once your DMP is running (as Orpheus said) you can log into Justabank and check your payments and balances and you also have a named account manager to contact with any queries. I'm sure mine rolls her eyes when she reads my silly questions but her replies are always so patient.

I wish I'd gone to Payplan 6 years ago instead of consolidating, but hey, life would be boring if we never made mistakes.

    Good luck for Saturday.

    Sam,
    x.
