best share magazine

Options
ive recently been subscribing to money week for general market news and some tips. ive found it very useful and often find myself referring back to them. lot of opinions from different people. whilst its a general money magazine most of it is geared up to shares and the like. im paying £14 every 13 issues which works out at £70 per year

ive also taken out a trial subscription of "the investors champion shares" for the past 2-3 weeks and will soon have to decide whether to pay the direct debit or cancel the trial. this is £30 per quarter, total of £120 per year. this seems 100% focused on shares and is much thicker

i cant afford both and would like to know if any other mags are worth looking at, if not which do you find the best?

    Hi, wellsie,

The two offerings seem quite different - Money Week is a weekly digest of financial news with a permanently ( well, certainly for the last five years ) bearish slant. I am not familiar with the Investors Champion but if it's this one, it appears to be focussed on small caps. Is it a tip sheet, or does it actually teach you how to choose shares? If it is the former, I'd suggest that you would be better off with just the Money Week subscription and perhaps regular visits to the Motley Fool, particularly PPP which specialises in small caps.

If the Investors Champion actually has some educational content, and you are interested in small caps ( bearing in mind that these tend to be rather riskier than the bigger companies ) then it's not so clear cut.

Another magazine which sort of covers the same areas as the two you have ( though not nearly as much focus on general economic news as MW ) is the Investors Chronicle.

  • by the time anything is in print it should mostly be in the price...

  • hi all

    thanks for your replies

i think i'll stil with MoneyWeek for now, for one its cheaper and it covers such a wide area, i also like how they bring several people into each issue to comment on current issues and what they as "experts" would invest in, not that i believe/trust them all of the time

its fair to say that by the time most go to print and arrive on your doormat everything is already in the price but sometimes if something has been tipped as its been lagging it's recovery might not have started straight away which ive noticed with EMED, Glaxo to name but two

purch, although i take your word about that being a good investment ive not got that kind of money at the moment but its something i'll consider in the future so thanks

browntrout, thanks for that, will have a search for that now

P.S. I renewed my subscription in January and the £460 quid was made back in less than 2 hours when I followed their tip on Soybean Oil
