When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.
Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging the washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.
Today I have
Hope you have all had a good day:D

Thanks for starting the thread!

I earned 1p by helping my colleague out with an address query and I said "if I had a penny for everytime I knew where somewhere was, I'll be rich".....so she gave me a penny! Sad act that I am picked it up and brought it home to put in my pint pot.
-
I took my lunch into work.
- Someone brought in celebrations chocolates so I freely availed myself of those!!!!
- I checked internet banking - no surprises and no need to update spreadsheet
- the second out of the third Tesco Club card statement came today - £23 in vouchers for me - £92 worth of deals, with 250 extra points coupons for things that I will buy
-
Left debit cards at home to avoid temptation.
-
Did 1.5 hours overtime (running total £127.80 for April's wage).
-
Posted on this thread - seventh day in a row - still committed.
-
Had yet another no personal spends day (sixth in a row, I think)
-
Went to the shop for DH and in his change was a 1p piece, which I liberated for my savings pint pot.
-
Took £50 in notes to the change machine at work and changed it into £1 coins so I don't need to go to the bank every time the kids need money for lunches/activities.
-
Nearly bit my friends hand off when she offered her '5p per litre off fuel at Tesco' receipt to "whoever wanted it"
Start Date: 27/11/2010

I'll second that :j
Today, I have:
1. Registered for on-line banking with the Halifax (the first time I have ever attempted such a thing) AND set up a standing order from my current account to my not very well endowed ISA.
2. Set up a direct debit for my doggies insurance.
3. Had a NSD.
4. Resisted the urge to drive to my nearest Halifax ATM to set up the PIN for my new debit card. Why? If I wait 'till I need to fetch something for work and do it then, I can claim mileage allowance
5. Had an application for a Virgin cc accepted and rendered someone speechless at the same time when they tried to flog me repayment insurance. My reply to his: "if you can't work, your next of kin could be liable and in the event of your death, we pay the whole balance" was "well I don't much care for my next of kin and if I die, will I really care???" really threw him off balance :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Nos 1, 2 and 5 were actually minature LBM's for me. Having had nothing to do with managing the finances for nigh on 16 years, I'm feeling a touch nervous about it all, but I can honestly say I'm enjoying getting into it. No's 3 and 4 are fast becoming a way of life, sort of a "dfw 'till I die" thing
. No 2 was also a must-do. These two are keeping me going by just being here.
All in all, it's been a good day. I might even  later.
Martyn.LBM: 12.2.08.Debt-free as of July '09 :j and determined not to go there, ever again :mad:DFW Nerd Club #902 Proud to have dealt with my debts.0 -

I have to report that the packed lunch I didn't eat on Wednesday (because I got a free lunch at Exeter University) is still sitting in the fridge - because I forgot to take it to college today - and had to BUY lunch! Damn! However, I will take my two-day-old-now packed lunch to work with me tomorrow. :rolleyes:Debt free by 22 January 2009 - thanks to an unexpected inheritance - take heart - it DOES HAPPEN!0

I steam cleaned the carpets and used the boiling water from the steamer to soak and wash some whites instead of using the washing machine except to spin.
Rested the temptation to "borrow" 12 yr olds earnings from work today..0 -

Once you bank online you will wonder how you ever managed without it. I find it great for keeping track of my money and moving cash from one account to another etc. Halifax also let you store all your statements etc online so you can keep everything in one place. Love my online banking:D0 -
Today:
- bought exactly enough veg (eg 5 mushrooms, 1 onion rather than bags)
- completed the cot quilt and doll's bedclothes (gifts)
- completed the ironing board cover (saved £4! by making this at home)
- planned a menu till payday based on freezer contents
- sorted out kitchen cupboards
- used £3 Sanctuary voucher to buy shower gel so spent £1.45 instead of £4.45: 'cash' was from a Pigsback voucher so win/win/win!
- found 1p, so 98p this monthI can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -

My Husband has a JOB:T :j
After 4 weeks on being on the dole, numerous interviews, rejections and frustration of looking, one of the jobs he went for last week called him to say they had reconsidered and were willing to offer him the job.
Oh and another thing, i listed some things on ebay last night and some of them are showing on My Ebay but not actually listed when i check for them. I think it's because they are 'designer' but it's only Lacoste body lotions and they aren't showing. Anyone else experienced this?Official DFW nerd no 551 - proud to be dealing with my debts
