urgh...
what it it with the UK and damm carpets in bathrooms..... ??....
Ok so I've seen a house (to rent) that I like, but the LL has just finished fitting new carpets throughout and has put one wall to wall in the bathroom. *shudders*
Now I've got a baby girl who will be crawling in 2 months time so (*shudders*) ... y'know... dont like the idea at all.... As the LL has JUST finished fitting them the LA keep saying theres no way he'll fit Lino or tiles now.... having spent a bomb already.
Are there any health regulations against this? For instance must he use antifungal carpet or "this" type of carpet or "that" type of carpet?
Anything?

I would put a cheap offcut of vinolay on top0

Wish I knew. Sorry.
is there anyway you could remove the carpet for the duration of the tenancy and replace it when you decide to move on? A lot of hassle, I know, but if you really are concerned about the hygiene, surely worth a try?DFW #414, MoneySaver, Income Booster

Or get a bathmat and dont pee on the floor? :-)0

At least the floor is warm, tiles are freezing!

I actually don't like carpets at all, my UK house has none dowstairs (bathroom is downstairs!:rotfl: ) - it does have carpets upstairs in the bedrooms.
My Spanish house has no carpets whatsoever.:D Ceramic tiles everywhere apart from one floor which is wood.
To the OP, I would carefully take up the bathroom carpet and put down some vinolay or similar and have the carpet refitted when you leave.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

I have a carpet in my bathroom which I hate but unfortunately the stupid builders made the floor split level and the step is curved to allow the door to open into it which means we had no other option but to fit a carpet, I would have much preferred tiles but they are very slippery when wetTotal unsecured debt July 08 - £46, 311.88

We own a house in SE Asia, which also has ceramic tiles everywhere. However, I hardly think the same is appropriate for a house in the UK, particularly for these winter mornings. In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0 -

I was not offering it as a suggestion, just making a comment.
If you read my post you will see that I suggested the OP used vinolay.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Sounds like a bunkup after too much wine.0 -
My brother just fitted a carpet over his tiles!
After a couple of scary moments with there toddler (slipping and just missing the furniture) they said sod it and put a carpet down.
Yes it's awful but tiles could have been a killer and kids don't always know to stand on bath mats to dry and not to splash water.
I love Karndean in my house and would not put carpet down.
Each to there own.Lets get this straight. Say my house is worth £100K, it drops £20K and I complain but I should not complain when I actually pay £200K via a mortgage:rolleyes:0
