Places to stay in Aberdeen
Because of my new job, occasionally I have to stay the night in Aberdeen, trouble is I dont always have advanced warning and it can be late in the day before I know whether I will need to stay overnight.
Aberdeen hotels are notorious for filling up very quickly leaving only the rooms at £150+, my budget does not stretch that far and I am hoping someone could point me towards some good guest houses or hotels in and around the city (within 15 miles) that I might be able to drop in late in the day and get a room.

If it's only occasionally, then you could book a hotel at a decent price in advance, but get a rate that lets you cancel by 4pm, then set the alarm on your laptop/mobile to remind you to cancel if you think you don't need it.
Have had a good deal from the Marriott out towards the airport before.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19
Balance 19th April '07 = minus £27,640
Balance 1st November '09 = mortgage paid off with £1903 left over. Title deeds are now ours.0 -

There are loads and loads of hotel standard Guest Houses and B & B's in and around Aberdeen - try tourist information.
Might be worth your while cultivating one or two with a view to them accepting short notice bookings from you.0 -

This is why I am asking here, to see if anybody knows of one.0 -
all I can do is give you a link for guest houses, as you said Aberdeen is hellish for finding somewhere to stay last min  and I agree
linky
quite often I've had to look at surrounding town's for accommodation.I got food in my belly and a license for my telly
And nothing's going to bring me down0 -
Hi, staying in Stonehaven at Heugh Hotel - 01569 762379 - not bad.
I have had helluva time booking rooms for next few days, even as far as Ellon or Mintlaw
Chat with barmaid reveals they are booked solid most of time, she says there are three hotels closed down to convert into flats. More money in property than hotel trade. Most regulars book a month in advance.
I work in Aberdeenshire most of July/Aug and bought a cheap caravan! Honestly, far better than hotels in summertime. Cold beer, and own telly.0 -

Most guy's who work away from home on pipelines, construction or landfill, in this area get caravan's. Cheaper and sometimes it keeps them out the pub
Problem I think torbrex has is that he can't plan ahead (meeting's with clients?) as it's flying visits.
And your spot on bob, places are getting shut down all over, very limited now for peeps, shameI got food in my belly and a license for my telly

Hi Torbex, sorry I cant really help you much as I sometimes need to get accommdation at short notice in Aberdeen and its a complete nightmare. We usually end up putting them in the Crown in Inverbervie, 25 miles away. Sometimes you might be lucky and get a guest house on Great Western Road but I walk that way to work and they always have no vacancy signs up. I have searched the VisitScotland web site for available places, loads come up then when you call them they have no rooms left. We have also put guys in the Heugh and they said it was good. Also did put a guy in the White Horse at Baleamdie, sorry I dont have the number to hand but should find it on the web. The Mariner in Great Western Road is sometime available but have always booked 7 days in advance. Good luck in your search.0
