LONDON (Standard & Poor's) Feb. 19, 2008--Standard & Poor's Ratings Services
said today it placed its 'A-1' short-term counterparty credit rating on
Bradford & Bingley PLC (B&B) on CreditWatch with negative implications.
"The CreditWatch placement follows B&B's 2007 results and reflects our
view that the combination of rising impairments, potential margin pressure and
further markdowns, and continued challenging funding conditions may not be
consistent with the current rating," said Standard & Poor's credit analyst
Nick Hill.

Every pound less borrowed (to buy a house) is more than two pounds less to repay and more than three pounds less to earn, over the course of a typical mortgage.

From what I've read in the past couple of days, I think it's clear that B+B and ANOther have significantly overeached themselves and are going to have to retrench.
I don't think they're in any real danger of following NRK into being Nationalised but I'd be very surprised if both manage to avoid being taken over in the next year or so.0 -
