Thanks for the advice after being a single mum and having years of mastering the art of cleaning up im setting up myself as a cleaner. I struggle working nights and getting enough sleep so this seems like a good idea. If anyone is in the Blackpool/Cleveleys area and knows of anyone who may need a cleaner please let me know. Hi, I'm in Burnley and would like a domestic cleaner as I work full time and travel 60 miles to get to work.
I have a large modern detached house that is easy to clean.
Probably four hours per week.
If anyone would be interested could you let me know?GC Jan £318/£350, Feb £221.84/£300, Mar £200.00/£250 Apr £201.05/£200 May £199.61/£200 June £17.25/£200

Don't charge per hour, charge for the job!
People shouldn't be buying your time but buying your product (a clean house, cooker, whatever). (This seems to be more understood by people who do ironing work as they charge per piece.)
Charging by the hour is no incentive to do the work more efficiently.0 -
i run a succesful cleaning company and I charge by the hour. i agree beforehand with my customers what they expect to be done within the alloted time.
You'd be surprised how filthy some peoples houses are aswell. Would i charge someone the same price for making it clean if it took me all day as compared to someone whos already house proud that only takes me 2 hours a week to maintain?
Ironing is different, all shirts are the same. It wont take me an hour to iron one persons and 2 minutes for another.
the incentive to do the work efficiently is to have a happy customer at the end of the day and repeat bookings. You won't get anywhere cheating people! What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0 -
Iv recently started doing this.
Im based in Romford and cover Romford, Hornchurch, Ilford, Dagenham and surrounding areas.
I charge £10 an hour for cleaning and i do ironing that i bring home with me for £20 for a bin liner full plus an extra £5 if you want it washed aswell0 -
You can advertise services like cleaning for free on www.service-exchange.co.uk if anybody's interested.0

Of course you wouldn't, you would charge for the job - which is what I suggested. You find out what they want in terms of the finished state of their property, you decide what that should be worth to them. If you think that charging that amount is something you think compensates you well for your time in achieving it, you quote that price. If you can do it in less time than someone else who would charge the same amount, that should be of no concern to the client. They should be paying for the end state of their house, not for the entertainment of watching you work for so many hours.0 -
Sorry Littlevoice i agree with Picklepick.
2 houses iv cleaned recently are perfect examples.
First house was spotless to start with so it only took me an hour and a half to do the whole house.
The 2nd house i had to ask for a knife to pick the flith off their showers it was that dirty. This house took me 5 hours to clean top to bottom.
Finding out what they want in terms of the finished state of their property doesnt really work...Everyone who books a cleaner wants a clean house. If said person has a filthy house then its obviously going to take longer. Many clients ask me approximately how long it will take me and i generally say around 3-4 hours which is average for a 3 bedroomed house. As for them paying for the entertainment of watching one work for so many hours....Trust me, every cleaning job i have, although i do it thouroughly i do it as quickly as possible so i can get home to my hubby and kids and enjoy my weekend. I doubt very much anyone would waste time and spend an extra two hours cleaning when they dont have to!0
