How do you remove windows messenger ?

Can someone remind me how you remove windows messenger again please ?

It doesn't feature in the add/remove programs selection so I don't know where to uninstall / delete it from

    Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs > Add or Remove Windows Components

    It's at the bottom of the list, just uncheck the box and off you go :j

    There are various utilities that help rid you of this 'feature'.

    Last 2 posters are talking about 2 entirely different things.

    One is Messenger Service which is an administrative tool embedded in the OS and is disabled by going to Control Panel -> Admin -> Services. This is the one Richie is referring to.

    The other is Windows Messenger, which is similar to MSN Messenger, ICQ etc and is an internet chat client. Removed as described by jimclark.

    As to which the OP wants disabled - ????
