Driving lessons Birmingham
I am looking to start learning to drive and I am completely overwhelmed by the sheer number of instructors and schools who run in the birmingham area! I really don't know what I should be looking for. The money saving part of me is telling me to go for the cheapest instructor I can find yet other people say that cheap is generally the worst way to go. Any suggestions about what I should be looking for such as types of car, diesel/petrol, number of lessons a week etc. I currently have around 8 possible schools to learn from and I am stuck!
Also if by any chance someone can recommend an instructor for the Birmingham area I would be interested to hear.

Supposidly learning in a diesel is easier, i learnt in one. I personally would say you should learn to drive in whatever type of car you will be driving after you pass.
Make sure you learn with someone you are comfortable, they will most likely be seeing you when you are very frustraited etc.
Someone who gives you the whole lesson time to yourself is a bonus, i hated the idea of piggybacking (wherwe you pick someone else up then drive home with them in the back) i felt it was unneeded pressure.
I had one 2 hour lesson a week, i feel you're just getting comfortable when the hour is up. I had no other method of learning though.
Ask around you are bound to get some recommendations from friends, they can be useful.
I hope you enjoy your lessons xx0 -
I second the comment about recommendations. Ask family and friends for suggestions as well as instructors to avoid.
Always ask how flexible the instructors are to your times/lifestyle. No point going for an instructor who doesnt do weekend lessons if thats when you want to do most of you lessons etc.
Also, find out which car you will be learning in. The newer the better.
My personal advice is to learn in a manual car as you can drive both manual and auto afterwards. If you pass your test in a automatic, you wont be able to drive a manual car.If you found my comment helpful, please click the 'Thanks' button below :T0
