    Help!!!

My Washington plans have all gone a bit wrong (and Priceline have very kindly allowed me to cancel my reservation), so I need a new plan!

So far all I have confirmed is three nights in Boston. I then have four nights to do with as I choose! I have decided that I don't want to fly anywhere else, but I will get the train or bus somewhere.

I have found the following two options:

http://www.radisson.com/hotels/nhnashua $89 including breakfast - a few days in the middle of nowhere, but close to tax free shopping! The hotel has excellent reviews, and the local town looks lovely.

http://www.oceanedge.com/default.aspx $99 excl breakfast - I really fancied Cape Cod, but can't find a bargain other than this one (and I like bargains!), and am a little concerned about the reviews for this hotel.

Or can someone suggest anywhere else for me?! I don't drive, so I need somewhere that is accessible by public transport.

I would probably go to one of these (or elsewhere!) for two nights, then back to Boston for the last night (I would rather leave NY until someone else is paying! ;) ).

Thank you in advance for all little pearls of wisdom ... x

Not sure if this is any help but
Did you see this post re the 'bus wars' ?

Can you make it to Washington?
    Lots to see there.

How did you get Pl to refund the money?
    Thought that was nigh impossible.

    Thanks blindman,

TBH I think I want to leave Washington for another trip. My parents did a short touring holiday last year, and found that by trying to fit too much in, they didn't really appreciate anything. Also I get tired really easily, so am better to stick to one area and take it slowly!

The bus offers are the wrong dates for me, so I'm going to fly to Boston and then possibly get the train back to NY (might not make that decision until I'm there ... I don't do planning!).

Priceline took a lot of persuading to refund me (including a few tears!). The hotel I was due to be staying at in Washington is having a refurb, and I was hearing some pretty horrendous stories from Tripadvisor and other sites (I won't name the hotel because I understand that PL were v generous in refunding me). Despite emailing the hotel directly four times, they would not reply to me, so I asked PL to look into it. The hotel reassured them that the refurb was only minor, but this even contradicted their own website! My call was finally escalated (after half an hour of someone just repeating 'I understand your concerns, but ...'), and the next advisor called the hotel, who agreed to let me cancel without penalty! x

    Mortgage-free Glee!
Just a thought if you are staying in Boston longer here is a nice trip to do, and thats visit Salem the home of the witch trials etc. This is a nice 30 minute train ride up north or reachable from Boston Harbour via a ferry ride. Nice place for a day out.
Or if your looking farther afield Niagara i would suggest.
:hello: Lets all save a £ or two, lets all earn a £ or two, and lets all enjoy spending that £ or two wisely.

  • You could get from Boston to Ocean's Edge by fast catamaran to Provincetown then public bus to the hotel. I've stopped at Oceans Edge Resort - which is a Condo golf estate thingy next door. Loved it. The buses make it doable & you can get to Hyannis, Orleans, etc - all great for a day out.

Alternatively, maybe just venture to Provincetown for a couple of nights. Gay capital of USA & an eye opener in the nicest possible way!
