Cheapest way to get hold of Adobe Creative suite cs3?

Could someone tell me what the cheapest way of getting hold of Adobe creative suite 3 (mac) is? Is there a cheap way to updgrade it from a older model?

I'm not elgible for the student version so if anyone knows of anywhere I can get it cheap I would be most grateful. Is there a way I can buy a oldre version of it and then upgrade to the latest version for cheaper than what it's currently listed.

Advice please

Thanks in advance.

  • Doubtful as it is still very new. CS2 is still a good and up-to-date version, or do you need something specific to CS3?
I don't believe and I never did that two wrongs make a right

ormus - as somebody whose been on here a long time i would have thought you might have known you can't really talk about that on here...

In another thread people mentioned about buying an older copy off ebay and upgrading and that it was possible. Im sure if you do a bit of a search you'll find it.

"CS3 upgrade" allows upgrades from CS1 and CS2.

But your best bet is if you can find a new sealed CS2 upgrade somewhere, this will upgrade from nearly all older versions of Photoshop (full, not LE / Elements), so is the cheapest way to get into the CS2 suite (but not CS3). And you should be able to pickup an ancient but legal over version of Photoshop from eBay.

Sadly you missed the best opportunity, 3-6 months ago, when CS3 release was imminent, you could buy the CS2 upgrade (from say Photoshop 5), then have a free CS3 upgrade - was a very good offer.

Jigsaw have a lot of versions and upgrades.

Anyone know, if I buy CS3 in the US (as it is cheaper in dollars than it is in pounds so potentially saving £2-300) can I register and use it in the UK? I know I cannot get it shipped from the US but can I actually go over there and bring a copy back? Thanks for any advice.

How difficult is it to get the student version? Could you sign on for a cheap evening class and then as a student be able to buy your CS3.

The student/education versions are highly regulated, the minute you step from any education course you'll be breaking the terms any. In addition they cannot be used in business or for any commercial projects. I very much doubt a cheap evening course will allow you onto the scheme, but worth checking with Adobe.

There are plenty of US sellers on eBay selling it, just do an advanced search and select Worldwide.

If you are planning on buying, make sure they are reputable, have good feedback and are selling sealed brand new versions only.

Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but I was wondering if anyone knew what the difference was between Photoshop standard and student editions. The Adobe education store currently offers Photoshop CS4 for £233.82 and the CS4 student edition for £158.62. What's the difference - are you not supposed to use the student editions once you're no longer a student?
