Is this fraud ebay email?

star_off_sm_2.gif eBay Center <center@ebay.com>
Dear Buyer ,

I'm the seller of the item that you've recently bid through the eBay system - http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&item=********(item number) and I wanted to let you know that the item is for sale and that i have just been contacted by eBay who informed me that due to some reasons the eBay policy automatically proclaims you to be the winner by default !
So if you are interested please tell me what is your best price for my item and reply to underatz@yahoo.com .
You have the oportunity to purchase my item if your offer is resonable for me ! I am ready to have everything officiated through eBay!

Waiting for your answer!
Best regards!

    Thanks for reply.
  • Big clue:

    "DEAR BUYER"

Offical Ebay emails always have on your real name.

Additionally, this email is puporting to come from ebay central but then is from the seller.
    It's a load of cobblers.
It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.

Please do not buy animals from a pet store. Visit your local sanctuary or centre and give a good home to an unloved or abandoned animal.

I know this one is dodgy because I am a friend of the person who is selling the item, he asked me to put a bid on it for him. You reckon we should do something about it?
  • Forward it to spoof@ebay.co.uk.

I reckon you should tell your friend that shill-bidding is against ebay rules and could get you both suspended.

There is an e-bay tool bar you can install (download from e-bay - sorry, haven't got the link at the moment). Basically it sits in the background and monitors for any spoof sites saying they are e-bay and Paypal. If you hit a suspicious link like this in an e-mail, the tool quickly checks the site as it loads up and flags up a warning that it is spoof as you try to log in.
