Savings Accounts - Credit Rating

May sound like a stupid question, but I just wanted to check - does opening multiple savings accounts affect your credit rating? Was just about to put money into an Icesave account when they slashed their rate, so will look elsewhere, but just wanted to make sure it won't have a negative effect on my rating as I'll be looking for a mortgage in about 9 months and as we all know, such things are getting like hens' teeth unless you are squeaky clean in credit terms....

Doesn't affect credit ratings.0

Indeed, having savings accounts that don't have any credit facility shouldn't affect your credit rating at all. They shouldn't even need to do a credit check on you before opening an account!I am a Chartered Financial Planner

That is correct - there is no reason for a credit check - you are not a potential danger to a bank or BS - they put you down as a liability on their Balance Sheet - they are debtors to you!0

Suggest you give the bank a credit check though to see if they are not going to disappear with your money. Looks like B&B have been downgraded this afternoon! This is not financial nor legal nor property advice. Consult a paid professional if in doubt.0
