Amex sent me someone elses bank statement

I recently applied for a credit card with American Express and they accepted it but wanted a copy of a bill or bank statement. I sent them my bank statement, and got it back today. However, with my bank statement was someone elses. What should i do? Just post it out to who's it is (because their address is on it) or call Amex and see what they have to say?
Either way i am shocked that Amex did this as surely its against the data protection act!?

Ouch. Very naughty of them. I can see how it'd be easy to do, since they probably deal with dozens if not hundreds of these things at a time, but still. There's no excuse for that.
I'd personally make a massive fuss about it, because it could've been my info that they sent to some random stranger.They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0 -
Thats why i thought id ask. I thought maybe someone else has experienced this. If so its unacceptable. I think this is the last time i send in my bank statement. Next time it will be a utility bill!0

I also think you need to really kick up Viks, it could have so easily been your info they'd passed to someone totally unscrupulous! They need to know they HAVE to ensure things like this DON'T happen again.

Shall i wait for them to send me my card first though? as i want to take advantage of their 5% cashback. Although with this relaxed attitude to their customers private informaation im not sure i should keep my account open?!0

Personally, I'd get on to them now! They'll still send the card and give you the 5% no problem as they want your custom - IF you still want them! The way Martin speaks about them I can't think they're that bad, but we as customers don't want what you've had to happen, nip it in the bud, your 5% is safe. Course...you could always say give us 10% and we'll say no more about it!!!!!:whistle:
