public liability insurance for baby classes

Hi, first time posting. A friend and I are hoping to set up a new business holding classes for babies 0-12 months old. They will be guided play sessions with mums with their babies. There will be music, instruments (toy shakers, sleigh bells, etc) demonstrations of baby signing and baby massage, games, baby toys, play mats, tiny ball pools, etc. We think we would need public liability insurance. We didn't expect it to cost too much since the mums are responsible for their own babies, but quotes we are offered are really expensive. Does anyone on this thread have experience of running classes like baby music, or baby signing, etc? Have you had to have public liability insurance, which company did you get it from, and was it dear?

I hope you can help because we are complete novices on this. Thanks.

With insurance, it is always worth asking a broker to get quotes for you, they often know who to approach.

do you have any 'umbrella bodies' you could approach for advice?

Hi. I used to have a parent and toddle group as a small business. The only place we could get insurance was through the early learning alliance. It was £130 for the year which included coverage for equipment. Hope that helps.

  • Thanks everyone for the advice. Tra, I haven't heard of the Early learning Alliance before, so thanks for that, I'll look them up on the internet.
