sticking to the budgets and lists

Options
hi all
im feeling guilty just been shopping for the week. i had worked out that all i needed was £70, so i drew that out, and spent £95!!
ive been checking mysupermarket, and have today been to tescos, sainsbury and asda.
obviously i never kept to my list, 4 easter eggs 'fell' into my trolley BOGOF, an extra £4. i bought 24 loo rolls instead of my normal 12 so put an extra £3.48 on, but they are going to last near a month now....
i bought 2 bottles of laundry liquid as they were 2 for £4, and extra £1.38. i bought a tiny piece of fresh salmon for £2. mini cheddars on offer BOGOF for £2.19. oh and as huggies pullups were BOGOF got them tune of £5. various odds and sods and there goes the budget.... hopefully will only spend £50 next week!! i know ive bought some offers which in long run will save, but im trying not to buy the deals where you wouldnt be having it if it werent on offer.... or the ones where you spend x pound to save a few pence.

  • Don't feel guilty Melie, it's sometimes worth going over budget for really god bargains

Never let success go to your head, never let failure go to your heart.
  • I think it's worth spending a bit more on stuff that you *know* you're going to use. OH loves tuna, and we eat a fair bit of it, so when it comes on offer (the four tin packs on BOGOF) I'll buy it even if it's not on my list, because it 'saves' me money in the long run (works out about 35p a tin, rather than 75pish). Same goes for toiletries - we like a certain brand of mouthwash that's not on offer often, so I stock up when I see it.

    Yep.

I'm a firm believer in a "flexible" budget.

For those things that you regularly use - if you spot an offer by all means grab it :)

As you say - for the next week (or several) your shopping bill will be lower - swings and roundabouts innit? :)

It's the budget breaking "ooh look - sweets just by the checkout!" that are the "naughty" ones. Taking advantage of offers while they are available is sensible shopping.

You have to be a bit flexible or you'd miss out on the real bargains. So long as you will easily use up what you bought then don't fret about it!
    Resolution:
    Think twice before spending anything!
