I want to build a nice brick BBQ in my garden for the summer. Does anyone know where I can get any guides etc.

Also is this legal as I live in a council house.

b&q used to do a "kit" which had the trays and racks and the diagrams on how to build it, think there about £15.

Just do a Google search!
I Googled "how to build a brick barbeque" and there are a dozen step-by-step photographic guides. Here's a video guide:

edit* I don't know how you stand legally with it being a council house; technically you would have to ask permission but Councils can be drearily beurocratic so just go ahead and build it.
The worst that can happen is they will make you knock it down.

Can't see why not. Have a look at your council's housing website, it should have a list of things tenants can't do without permission. Anyway, you could always call it a raised flower bed.
