Hi all,
I have a Windows Mobile 6 device (Palm Treo 750) and I can connect it to Active Sync.
What is the best software to install so that I can text messages from my PC?
Thanx

I don't think there is any software that allows you to send SMS via an activesync connection. There is some freeware pocket pc remote control software available that gives you a remote desktop type screen on your PC so you can type in to the pda.
Activesync is used to syncronise your pda with your PC, transfer files music or documants sync outlook contacts and emails. it also allows you to share the internet connection your PC has to connect to the internet rather than useing the mobile phone network.0 -
So, is it fair to say that Windows Mobile devices, other than remote control software are fairly rubbish for PC-based SMS text messaging?
Thanx

I've never had the need to use a pocket pc for sending sms messages from a PC. I have a full qwerty keyboard on mine for typing direct in to it or I use the stylus and the hand writing recognition.
I think some networks offer the sending of sms messages from their website from your mobile account. I know this was once somthing Orange offered.
If your wanting the sort of thing that has been available in the past useing nokia comunicator suite then yes you bought the wrong phone0 -
Fair point, but no matter how fast the user interface is on the device, people use PC software when seated at their computer simply because its faster, more convinient and because you can easily cut and paste text.
The Windows Mobile devices are work devices and I have a personal N95.
I prefer to send text messages that are work related through the work phone rather than via my personal phone.
Thanx.

Personally I wouldnt have bought the trio, the layout isnt brillaint especially for text entry I can understand why you wouldnt want to use it the keys are too small. But the active sync software is for 1 thing only and that is for data transfer not control. you gotta love microsoft.
Do you use another forum? DF?0 -
