I know where it all is and what to do but not sure i should do this on my own as i've not done anything of the sort before now you mention it! i'll ask the garage i go to (not the dealer lol) to do it for me, more peace of mind and i think they have better equipment too :o

Probably the safest way for you to be honest. They should actually have the ****reader, can't remember what it's called, OM1 or something, that plugs into the socket. All modern cars use the same reader I think.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

n22an.jpg this is £1.29 at maplin - just being my stupid self here but how does a spade connector help over a wire end as long as I make sure its in properly? i'm also not sure what size the ecu slot is :o

It doesn't and is that price for one or 50? For one, it's horrendous - they're pennies.

I wouldn't want a loose connection doing ECU work. Not least for the reason that the process usually takes a long time, and to have the wire fall out half way through would be extremely annoying.
  • ok curiosity is getting the better of me, what is "****reader" supposed to say? :rotfl:

Sorry I wasn't swearing at you, its the type of system, OM1 or something that all modern cars use for the diagnostics socket. Gradually been becoming the industry standard over probably 8 years or so.
The idea is that the independants can have a single reader that will work on most if not all cars, so we don't get fleeced into having to go to the main stealer to identify a fault,

Yeah the main dealer said they charge £75 per hour to diagnose and cant guarantee any price as it could take ages so no thanks! I now got a quote of £25 to change the oil & filter and link the ECU and check that out, all from a little garage I normally go to, sound good?
