Hi
I'm looking to appoint a solicitor for a sale only and there are loads of online conveyancors (£300-£350) that are much cheaper than the local solicitors (£550-£600).
Anyone got any advice or recommendations?

I have not checked any sites so do not know what is on offer, but the following are the questions I would consider before choosing this service over a High Street solicitor.
Are they licensed conveyancers?
Is there a person to speak to if things do not go smoothly?
Do they have professional insurance in case things go wrong?
What protection do you have that the sale money if paid to them is going to come to you, either at all or within a suitable timescale? What safeguards do you have for interest to be paid to you if the sale moneys are not sent on to you expeditiously.
Although online conveyancing comes with less overheads, it is often the case that you get what you pay for. Don't compromise expertise and professional safeguards for costs.0 -

Does it follow from this that you should get the Solicitor, Estate Agent, Surveyor and Mortgage Broker s who charge the highest fees?...............................I have put my clock back....... Kcolc ym0 -
just registered with https://www.legalmove.com who have a reduce fee of £247.00 + vat for purchases under £500,00. Easy to register and on ringing was told that it takes 24 hours to be contacted and then sent a conveyancing pack. Part of Hammond Direct who are apparently a well known conveyancing group. GIVING THIS ONE A TRY!!!0

I got hold of Nick Mundy from Mundy's (based in Hereford, but not relevant) - mundys.co.uk from a site called Conveyancing Marketing Services (CMS). They will do a search for you (a bit like a broker) and come back with a set of quotes. I have used Mundy's twice now and have been impressed with speed, quality of reports etc, and most of all price!! Suggest you try CMS as a first stop - I know there are other sites that will also perform a search for you.
Hope this helps - it is my first post onto this site - I also hope I have got the hang of how to do it!0
