I suggest you do what needs doing to your current property so that you're happy in it. Then you can't go wrong. Trying to second guess strangers is a mug's game.
Also, doing up a kitchen for selling in five years is not wise. A "shaker" style kitchen might by trendy today, but five years' hence? It'll be the dark oak of the kitchen world, believe you me.
If you're a risk taker, you could try selling now, renting and then buying your bigger home in the event of a house price correction. But as I say, that isn't really an option unless you're a single person with few possessions, and a desire for big risks.0 -
Perhaps to bear in mind, though, tha there are more people with 140k available than 150k. Might even get a FTB or cash buyer - ideal in your pos."Unhappiness is not knowing what we want, and killing ourselves to get it."Post Count: 4,111 Thanked 3,111 Times in 1,111 Posts (Actual figures as they once were))Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.0

Magnolia paint
Laminate floors
New Bathroom - white suite
New Kitchen - open plan dinner
Larger windows - UPVC double glazing
Spend 8K make 30K
Its a no brainer surely?0 -

Are you saying you can get all that work done for £8k? Sheesh - can I have the name of your builder, please. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
AuntyJean wrote:Crikey, I did not realise how much estate agents fees would be. I suppose you would have to add structural survey on top of that, plus re-mortgage fees!!
Around here they charge 2% to 2.5% for a multi-agency, plus VAT of course.
Although sole agencies are cheaper, I prefer the competition from having multiple agents selling my house. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
